In honor of Dylan

In July, I lost my good friend Dylan Reid Faircloth (The First) in a tragic car accident. He was my one and only roommate at the Duke TIP Summer Studies Program, and our tiny room was often filled with friends and laughter thanks to the air-conditioning we enjoyed.
When I heard of his death, I immediately reached out to Dylan’s mother, June Faircloth, but I wanted to do something more.
I wanted to find a way to keep Dylan’s memory alive.
After thinking about it, my parents, Scott and Michelle Prengle, and I decided that the best way to do so was to help someone else enjoy the wonderful, life-changing Duke East TIP experience we had shared.
Therefore, we would like to establish a Duke TIP scholarship in Dylan’s name, but in order to do so we must raise a minimum of $3,500. My parents have contributed $1,500, and I am asking you to help us complete our goal and honor Dylan’s memory in this unique and special way.
Once fully funded, the scholarship will provide one need-based scholarship for a qualified TIP student to attend the Summer Studies Program at the Duke East campus in the summer of 2011. If you would like to help us establish the Dylan Faircloth Memorial Scholarship, you can do so in one of two ways. All gifts are tax deductible and will be acknowledged by Duke University and Duke TIP.
1. Checks can be made payable to Duke University and mailed to:

Please write Faircloth Memorial on the memo line.
2. Charitable gifts can also be given securely online at: www.gifts.duke.edu/tip.

Thank you so much for joining what I believe is a great tribute that will continue Dylan’s legacy in a place that was very special to us both!
