Wiley M. Griffin, IV and David Preston Hall of Bainbridge graduated from the South Georgia Technical College Law Enforcement Academy recently in Americus, Georgia. Over 200 individuals attended the ceremony and Albany Police Chief John Proctor was the special guest speaker.

South Georgia Technical College President Sparky Reeves presented Griffin and Hall and the other graduates with their Technical Certificate of Credit and POST (Peace Officers Standards and Training) certification recognition at the fourth Law Enforcement Academy graduation ceremony.

David Preston Hall was selected to present the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance at the graduation ceremony.

South Georgia Tech is one of only six technical colleges in Georgia offering the Law Enforcement Academy Training classes. The cadets undergo 18 weeks and more than 700 hours of intense training mentally and physically.

The LEA graduates received their POST (Peace Officers Standards and Training) certification from South Georgia Technical College as well as a technical certificate of credit that can be utilized toward a diploma or Associate Degree in Criminal Justice.

Most Law Enforcement Academy recruits qualify for the HOPE Grant and other forms of financial aid. Admission standards require all students to undergo a thorough background check and adhere to all rules as set forth by the state POST Council. Students will also have to meet minimum scores in English, reading and math.
