Golf tournament benefits Bearcats

Local supporters of Coach Ed Pilcher’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats football program joined Bearcats coaches Saturday to raise funds for the team.
The occasion was the annual Bearcats Touchdown Club’s fund raising golf tournament at Bainbridge Country Club.
The tournament was played under a four-man team scramble format with each team member hitting his second shot from the spot of the longest tee shot.
Tournament hosts were Touchdown Club president Tim Smith and vice president Wendell Nix.
The Adams Brothers Construction Company’s number one and two teams were first and second in the tournament’s first flight.
The number one team won with a 16-under-par round of 56 and the number two team was just a stroke behind with a 15-under-par round of 57.
On the number one team was Bill Sibley, Craig Pierce, Chuck Lewis and Randy Poitevint and on the number two team were Tracy Dixon, Bill Allen, Billy Howell and Kenny King.
The top two second flight teams were Inland Oil Company and Sharber Oil Company.
On the first place Inland team, which shot a 12-under-par round of 60, were coaches Mike Jones, Tom Wheeler, Steve Bench and Ell Willis and on the second place Sharber team, which shot a 10-under-par round of 62, were Lester Bishop, Wayne Mayo, Matt Mayo and Charles Ingram.
Bill Sibley of Adams Brothers Construction Company’s first flight championship team won a cooker, two dozen golf balls and a Bearcats jacket, shirt and hat for coming closest to the pin on Par 3 holes 3, 7 and 11.
