On May 12, the board of directors of First United Ethanol LLC (FUEL) presented a plaque to Mike Harrell for his service as an original board member from September 2005 through this February. As president, CEO and majority shareholder of Southwest Georgia Oil Company Inc. of Bainbridge, Harrell was chosen to serve on FUEL’s board for his expertise in the oil industry. He made significant contributions to the successful completion of FUEL’s equity drive, construction and first year of production. FUEL produces 100 million gallons of corn-based ethanol per year and is located in Mitchell County. Harrell provided the first corn that was ground in October 2008 and purchased the first ethanol that was produced. FUEL chairman Tommy Dollar presents the plaque to Harrell.
