Barbara June Green Moates, 68, a long-time resident of Bainbridge, passed away peacefully at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Danville, Ga. and graduated from West Bainbridge High School in 1961. She received her LPN license from Bainbridge College in 1981.

She was one of three children born to the late H.L. and June Green of Bainbridge. She is survived by two brothers, Larry W. Green and Robert H. Green, both of Bainbridge. She was the mother of five children: Djuana Armstrong Rinehart and Tom of Thomasville, Adam Armstrong and Patti of Cape Coral, Fla., Traci Armstrong Evans and Terry of Tallahassee, Klay Armstrong and Brandi of Donalsonville, and Jony Pickren and Katie of Geneseo, Ill. She also had nine grandchildren: Rachael Hamby, Caroline Smith, Addie and Elizabeth Rinehart, Christopher Armstrong, Hank and Beau Evans, Erin and Carter Ross, and a great granddaughter Stella Hamby.

Barbara retired from a long career in elder and dialysis care from Archbold Memorial Hospital in 2007. She was an avid reader, enjoyed eating out with friends and family, and travelling. Nursing was her passion and she was completely dedicated and touched the lives of all of her patients and their families.

The family respected her wishes to not have a memorial service, but to later scatter her ashes with her grandparents in Danville, and on her favorite stretch of the ocean at Mexico Beach, FL.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure campaign.

Allen & Allen Funeral Home of Thomasville was in charge of the arrangements.
