A funeral service for Mr. Melvin Cottles, 63, of Bainbridge, was held Sunday, Sept. 5 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donna Bevels officiating. Interment was at Oak City Cemetery.

Born July 17, 1947, in Bainbridge, Mr. Cottles died Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at his residence.

Mr. Cottles was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1965, and attended Georgia Southern University. Melvin worked with American General Life Insurance Company and was a member of First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Smith Cottles, W.H. “Billy” Cottles and Frank Cottles; and his sister, Carol Oglesby.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Judy Cottles, of Bainbridge; a daughter, Brandi Brogdon of Climax; his brother, David Cottles of Bainbridge; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
