A memorial service for J.T. Johnson, 61, of Gadsden County, Fla., will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Freddie C. Anderson officiating.
Born Jan. 17, 1949, in Colquitt, Ga., Mr. Johnson died on Sept. 15, 2010, in a fire at his home.
Mr. Johnson received his education from St. John Elementary and worked with Bennett Seafood for the majority of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of three of his children, Emma World; three brothers, Charlie Anderson, Edward Anderson and Jerry Johnson; five sisters, May Bell, Helen Johnson Doris Williams, Annie Bell McCall and Janie Collier. He was joined in death by his daughter, Veronica Johnson.
Survivors include his five children, Elex World and Kimberly Johnson, both of Bainbridge; Selena Johnson and Shawn Johnson, both of Clearwater, Fla., and Antonio Johnson of Quincy, Fla.; his twin brother, I.T. Johnson of Quincy, Fla., and three other brothers, James Johnson of Bainbridge, Johnny Johnson of the McCrayville community and Ira Washington of Quincy, Fla.; 12 sisters, Catherine Jackson of Cairo, Ga., Jessie Mae Jackson, Sarah Washington and Roberta Washington, all of Quincy, Fla., Odester Blackman of Dothan, Ala., Mary Mosley of Atlanta, Ga., Clarice McComb of Miami, Fla., Martha Ann Johnson of Belle Glade, Fla., Claudy Mae Johnson of West Palm Beach, Fla., Jeanette Hamilton, Eliza Green and Mary Eason, all of Tampa, Fla.,; a special sister-in-law, Wynnee Lee Carter; a special niece, Phyllis Anderson; two special grandchildren, Octavius Powell and Nyanza Bryant; a special goddaughter, Bernice Jackson; 14 grandchildren in all, as well as a host of other family and friends.
Bruton Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
