BHS teams have strong efforts

Coach Mandi O’Mara’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats finished second and her Lady Cats finished third in Saturday’s 11th annual Bearcat Invitational cross country meet at Spring Hill Christmas Tree Farm.
Fifteen teams were represented at the meet. The Lee County High School Lady Trojans won the girls division, and the Westover High School Patriots won the boys division.
Leading the way in the 5,000-meter, 3.1-mile event were Lady Cat Paige Braswell, who was fourth in the girls division with a time of 24 minutes, 6.08 seconds, and Bearcat Cole Farrington, who was 11th in the boys division with a time of 20:16.58.
Lady Cats turning in strong times in addition to Braswell were Ashley Mango, who was 14th in a time of 25:48.83; Capria Miller, who was 26th in a time of 27:08.32; Amber Braswell, who was 29th in a time of 27:17.29; Ashton Oldaker, who was 34th in a time of 27:36.33, and Brittany Williams, who was 35th in a time of 27:36.89
Turning in strong times for the Bearcats in addition to Farrington were Lee Glaze, who was 15th in a time of 20:39.33; Javius Mitchell, who was 17th in a time of 20:50.40; Titus Madge, who was 22nd in a time of 21:06.68, and Antonio Anderson, who was 28th in a time of 21:29.36,
The Bearcats and Lady Cats will return to competition Saturday when they travel to Thomasville to compete in the Thomasville High School Bulldogs Quail Trail Run.
On Saturday, Oct. 2, they will be in Albany competing in the Westover High School Patriots Invitational.
The Region 1AAAA Meet will be Oct. 30 in Warner Robins, and the state Class AAAA Meet will be Nov. 6 in Carrollton.
