The Decatur County Genealogical Society will host a free genealogy workshop on Oct. 9 to those who register two days early. The workshop will be held at the Decatur County Fairgrounds in the Chamber One Building on Vada Road. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with classes running from 10 a.m. to  3 p.m. A light lunch will be served. In addition to the basics of genealogy, other topics covered will be a brief history of Decatur County and local records, using DNA in genealogy, and “Now that you have your Records, what do you do with them.” Speakers are Edwin Duke, Kathryn Lillethun and John Cunningham. Registration at the door will be $5. Seating is limited and early reservations are encouraged.
