Parents and/or guardians of children with disabilities in the Decatur County schools are encouraged to attend a meeting with the Georgia Department of Education on Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. at the Elcan-King Elementary Lunchroom. The Georgia Department of Education would like to talk with the parents/guardians about how their children are doing in reading and/or math and how IEP teams decide to place children in general education and/or special education classes. Parents may also be called by a parent from the monitoring team for a personal phone interview about their child. Questions regarding this meeting should be addressed to Catherine Gossett, special education director for Decatur County Schools at 248-2826.
