Cougars Eastern Region champions

The Grace Christian Academy Cougars soccer team defeated the Emmanuel Christian School Warriors 4-1 Thursday in Dothan, Ala., to win the Panhandle Christian Conference’s Eastern Region regular season championship.
They finish 3-1 in Eastern Conference play. Other Eastern Region Conference members are Emmanuel and the Northside Methodist Academy Knights, who are also from Dothan, Ala.
In their Thursday, Sept. 30 clinching 4-1 victory over the Emmanuel Warriors at Dothan’s Westgate Soccer Complex, Grace’s Alex Ward scored one goal and Kyle Harris scored three goals.
Ward scored in the 18th minute when Bryce McQuaid’s shot following a corner kick was partially blocked. Ward took the rebound and deposited it past the Emmanuel goal keeper.
Harris’s first goal, which was unassisted and came in the 34th minute, was a shot past the Emmanuel goal keeper from eight yards out.
Harris’s final two goals were assisted by his brother Chase Harris. Kyle scored the first in the 52nd minute on a deflected shot by Chase.
Kyle’s final goal in the 64th minute was scored after he took a touch pass from Chase, who had dribbled down the right side.
The Cougars will conclude their regular season tomorrow when they travel to Valdosta, Ga., for a game with Open Bible Christian School.
