The funeral service for Virginia McCord Wessinger, 86, of Bainbridge, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at Sutton Chapel United Methodist Church with Dr. Lynn Roberts officiating.

The graveside funeral service will be held Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington, Ga., with Minister of the Gospel David Lance McCord officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, at Ivey Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sutton Chapel United Methodist Church, Jenny Wessinger Steeple Fund, c/o Alan Davis, 180 Davis Road, Bainbridge, GA 39817.

Jenny was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Marietta, Ga., the daughter of James Broadus McCord and Edna Pearl Martin McCord. She died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Memorial Hospital. She was a graduate of Commercial High School in Atlanta, was a secretary for Western Auto Co., Atlanta Auto Auction, and retired from McCord Mechanical Insulation Company. She was a member of Sutton Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Wessinger, and a son, Ancil Wessinger.

Survivors include her brother, Larry McCord and his wife, JoAnne Godwin McCord, of Bainbridge, and several nieces and nephews.
