Softball teams honored at banquet

The three Bainbridge High School and Bainbridge Middle School Lady Cats sotball teams were honored for excellent seasons Thursday night at an awards banquet held in the BHS cafeteria.
The varsity Lady Cats, coached by head coach Eugene Singletary and assistant coach Dennis Cato, finished the season with 15 wins. The record tied the 2006 team’s for the most in school history.

The junior varsity Lady Cats, coached by head coach Latreisha Moon and assistant coach Justin Johnson, finished with eight wins. The middle school Lady Cats, coached by head coach Marie Jones and assistant coach Lindsey Jarrett, finished with seven wins.

Varsity award winners included Caitlin Cato, who received the Iron Lady Award for dedication and hard work, and Morgan Powell, who received the most improved batting average award.
Four varsity players, Kristin Bennett, Briana Wade, Diamond Bouie and April Thomas, received Bearcat Awards for loyalty and adherence to the strong Bearcats sports legacy.
The most improved varsity player award went to Avis Jackson, while the Be Smart Award for intellegent play went to Bria Harris,
The highest scholastic average award went to Morgan Powell, with a grade point average of 95.250.
Also honored for outstanding academic achievements with grade point averages of 94, 90.333, and 89.938 were Caitlin Cato, Diamond Bouie and Natasha Green.
Varsity coaches awards for constantly striving to get better went to Natasha Green, Tiffany Hand and Jocelyn Beard.
Junior varsity awards were presented to Shay Williams as most improved infielder, Asia Ervin as most improved outfielder, Lindsey Griner as best all around player, Anna Barber as most improved player, Laura Griner as the coaches’ award winner and Caitlyn Dunlap as Bearcat award winner.
Taking home middle school awards were Summer Kirkland as most improved infielder, Longeisha Emanuel and Arian Brown as most improved outfielders, Brooke Bates for the highest batting average, Maegan Harrison as the most improved pitcher, Grace Ann Powell for hustle and Jordan Graham as coaches’ award winner.
