Three Bearcats in Border Wars Saturday

Senior defensive tackle Shammai Wilburn, the 2011 Region 1-AAAA defensive player of the year and Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Associated Press first-team All-State performer, leads a contingent of three Bainbridge High School Bearcats senior football players who will be playing in today’s “War on the Border” All-Star game in Moultrie, Ga.
The kickoff for the game, which will pit top seniors from southwest Georgia against top seniors from north Florida, will be at 2 p.m.at Moultrie’s Mack Tharpe Stadium.
Bearcats teammates joining Wilburn on the South Georgia team will be quarterback Quincy Fortson and defensive end Anthony Jackson.
Richie Marsh of the Thomasville High School Bulldogs is head coach of the Southwest Georgia team and Mike Coe of the Madison County High School Cowboys is head coach of the North Florida team.
Coach Marsh will be assisted by Rush Propst of Moultrie’s Colquitt County High School Packers and coach Coe will be assisted by Corey Fuller of Havana’s East Gadsden High School Jaguars.
