Kaye was born Oct. 23, 1963, in Bainbridge, the daughter of Herbert and Fran Rich. She died Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at her residence.
She was a graduate of Bainbridge Christian Academy, Class of 1981, and a graduate of Bainbridge College, Class of 1993. She was a cabinet drafter for Hall’s Cabinet Works, a member of Climax Baptist Church, and actively involved with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
She was the featured subject in a special edition published in October by The Post-Searchlight in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It chronicled her long, battle with the disease and the bravery with which she faced each day with a smile. She calmly told listeners, “If the worst happens, give it to God … He is the one in control … and Every day I have on this earth is a gift, and I know it.”
Survivors include her husband, Tony Barber of Bainbridge; her sons, Quinton Lanier and his wife, Audrey, and Brandon Barber, both of Bainbridge; her daughters, Savannah Barber and Jenni Barber, both of Bainbridge; her mother, Fran Rich of Bainbridge; her sister, Linda McNease of Bainbridge; her nephew, Kerry McNease; her niece, Kacey McNease; her grandchildren, Heidi Faith and Ryan Kayne; and several aunts and uncles as well as a host of friends.
