We regret to announce the passing of Roscoe Luke Alday, 97. of Donalsonville, Ga., who passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at the Donalsonville Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Alday were held on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Donalsonville, with Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating. Interment followed at the Calvary Assembly of God Cemetery. Casketbearers were Michael Kirkland, Jack Griffin, Leon Brogdon, Rodney Prittchett, Vann Thursby, Kyle Folds, David Cliett and Jason King.
He was born in Decatur County on Feb. 24, 1914, to the late Sidney Dillard and Susie Conyers Alday. He served his country in the U.S. Army and National Guard and was a farmer and carpenter. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church where he was a member of the board, cemetery committee and sang in the choir.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Dillard and Susie Conyers Alday and daughter Dianne Alday Kirkland.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Allean Alday of Donalsonville; daughter, Linda King of Bainbridge; grandchildren, Denise Kirkland Smiley, Karen Kirkland, Michael and his wife Katina Kirkland, Melinda King and her husband Jack Griffin, and Jay and his wife Christin King; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
