Bearcats Football Preview Week 2: Coffee High School

The Bearcats travel to a “very physical” Coffee football team Friday.

Friday’s game is Bainbridge’s fourth meeting with the Trojans in four years. The Bearcats lost the matchup in 2020 and 2021, won in 2022, and look to win again in 2023.

Head Coach Jeff Littleton his mindset when preparing for the matchup.

“You look at how they attack other people and see what their philosophy is,” Littleton said. “You want to find out who their best athletes are and try to neutralize that.”

Coffee has talented athletes across the board. Senior quarterback Maurice Hansley leads the squad on offense with senior-junior running back duo Fred Brown and Tyrese Woodgett. Littleton said he feels that every level of Coffee’s defense can be dangerous.

“They’re a five-A program with a rich tradition who plays really good football,” Littleton said.

Littleton said he looks to carry the success his team found in its game against Eagles Landing into the Coffee matchup.

Defensively, he’s focusing on getting his guys to run toward the ball. He said that effort makes up for “a lot” of mistakes they might make. Offensively, he wants the squad to capitalize on what the defense gives them.

“We give great effort in practice,” Littleton said. “The execution is going to be there Monday through Thursday. Then we go have fun on Friday,”

The away game kicks off at 7:30.
