Bainbridge gymnasts shine at national competition

Nine Bainbridge gymnasts competed in the AAU National Gymnastics Championship — almost all secured top 10 finishes.

The gymnasts are a part of the Bainbridge Gymnasticats but competed for Team Georgia at nationals. Head Coach Melynda “Lindy” Murkerson said she was happy with her team’s performance.

“Overall, I was very pleased. We were in the top 10!”

Each gymnast performed routines in four different events to earn a cumulative final score. The four events are floor, balance beam, vault and bars. The gymnasts are segmented into groups corresponding to their age and skill level. The skill levels range from bronze, silver, gold, platinum and diamond.

Standouts from the competition are Mia Rosario and Kaylee Kale. Both came in first in the nation for their age group and skill level in the vault event. The girls did well all around: Rosario took second and Kale took third overall.
