Bearcats wrestlers perform well in Adel

Coach Chad Smith’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats wrestling team competed in the Cook County High School Hornets Invitational Meet Saturday in Adel, Ga.

Teams taking part in the meet with the Bearcats and host Hornets included the Valdosta High School Wildcats, the Lowndes County High School Vikings, the Lee County High School Trojans and the Tift County High School Blue Devils;

Also competing were the Crisp County High School Cougars, the Irwin County High School Indians, the Colquitt County High School Packers and the Cairo High School Syrupmakers.

The Bearcats finished sixth in the tournament and had several individuals who placed.

Cole Bulger, Jacob Trawick and Brandon Crawford finished second and Collin Ward and Cam Fountain finished third.

Coach Smith said he was pleased with his team’s effort in Adel.

“I am seeing much improvement from some of our wrestlers.” he said. “New leaders are emerging and it’s a direct result of working hard at practice to learn and improve. I feel we had a very good showing at Cook County.”
