Patriotism: What does it mean?

I am not a big political fan. Far more often than not, we as citizens are lead to believe one thing and the end results completely contrast that which was proposed.
With this being said, I do however want to address a statement that was recently published in the “Letters to the Editor” of The Post-Searchlight. A citizen had written in about Barack Obama and questioned his patriotism due to the fact that Obama did not wear an American flag on his lapel.
While I admit that I made a rebuttal that you cannot judge a man’s patriotism by merely a pin on his coat, something happened in the last presidential debate that was just a slap in the face to me.
Not only was Obama wearing an American flag on his lapel, the party whom accused him of being un-patriotic (GOP), allowed their own John McCain to be televised in the last and most important presidential debate, to not have on an American flag pin on his lapel. Pot … meet Kettle.
