Nearly 55 people at Cairo’s Timken plant, which makes needle and roller type bearings, will be laid off as of Feb. 27 in a cost-cutting measure. Fifty-one of those are hourly employees, and three are salaried. After the layoffs, the Cairo facility will have 400 employees. It had 520 employees as recently as 2006. (The Cairo Messenger)
