Lady Cats 13th in state

Coach Tandria Phillips’ Bainbridge High School Lady Cats track team finished a strong 13th in an 86-team field at the state Class AAAA meet Saturday, May 16, at the state Class Hugh Mills Memorial State Track in Albany.
The Lady Cats, who finished second in Region 1AAAA, were at Westside Macon High School, were led at the state meet by Nancy Session, who finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.85 seconds, and Jerisha Sutton, who finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.37 seconds.
Session and Sutton were also on the sixth-place, medal-winning 4-by-100-meter relay team with Davina Thomas and Olivia Beard. Their time was 48.74.
April Thomas turned in a sixth-place, medal-winning performance in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5 minutes, 27.39 seconds.
Sutton also won a medal when she captured seventh in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 47.86
Phillips said she is very proud of all of her performers, not only in the state meet, but also in the Region 1AAAA meet and throughout the regular season.
“Everyone really worked hard and turned in strong times and distances in some extremely competitive meets,” she said.
“The success we had this year was a result of everyone pulling together. I am very proud of all the young ladies for their hard work and dedication.”
