Doyle Cobb

Funeral services for Doyle Cobb, 79, of Donalsonville, Ga., were held on Sunday, Dec. 27, at Donalsonville First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. James Scarborough officiating.

Interment followed in the Friendship Cemetery with Greg Broxton, Gabriel Broxton, Eddie Cobb, Ronnie Shiver, Stephen Houston and Tom Foster serving as active pallbearers.

Born in Donalsonville, Ga., on Nov. 30, 1930, Mr. Cobb died on Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at his residence. He worked on the construction of the Oliver Dam in Columbus, Ga., before moving to the Atlanta area and working in a glass manufacturing plant. Mr. Cobb was a member of the Donalsonville First Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed doing anything that involved working with wood, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and with his church family. He is preceded in death by a brother, Hubert Cobb.

Survivors includes his wife of 59 years, Thelda Cobb of Donalsonville; two sons, Randy Cobb of Jonesboro, Ga., and Jerrell Cobb of Valdosta, Ga.; a sister, Margriette Williams of Donalsonville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
