Funeral services for Doris Fay Powell Palmer, 91, of Pelham, Ga., will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home in Pelham with the Rev. Monty Palmer Guice and Jessie Alligood officiating.
Interment will follow in Meigs Sunset Cemetery with Wes Humphries, Merril Guice, Kermit Palmer, Stacy Palmer, Kelly Palmer, Brian Renner, Davie Woods and Neil Palmer Stempenski serving as active pallbearers.
Born Feb. 15, 1934, in Mitchell County, Ga., Mrs. Palmer died on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home.
Mrs. Palmer was a homemaker and was the oldest of four children. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton “Mitt” Palmer; a daughter, Glenda Fay Palmer Craycraft; a son, Norris Edward Palmer; her brother, T.C. “Keesie” Powell; a sister, Virgie “Buck” Powell Bentley; and a grandson, Nicky E. Palmer.
Survivors include her daughter, Deane Palmer Guice of Pelham; two sons, Lee Palmer of Pelham and Neil Palmer of Bainbridge; a sister, Frances “Sister” Powell Giddens of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home in Pelham is in charge of arrangements.
