Robert Battle

Funeral services for Robert “Bobby” Battle, 55, of Bainbridge, were held Thursday, Feb. 4, in the chapel of Cox-Ware Funeral Home.

Interment followed at Roselawn Memory Gardens.

Born Sept. 6, 1954, in Seminole County, Ga., Mr. Battle died on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010.

Mr. Battle moved to Decatur County in 1997 and married Gwen Brooks Battle. He was of the Baptist faith and was employed by the Decatur County Public Works as a dump truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and motorcycles.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his grandmother, who raised him, Ossie Tye; and his dog, Weasel.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Gwen Brooks Battle of Bainbridge; two daughters, Samantha Battle and Angela White, both of Eastman, Ga.; four step-daughters, Sheila Argo, Cheryl Richardson, Sherry Smith and Daisey Lynn Holley, all of Bainbridge; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Cox-Ware Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
