Funeral services for Kennith Eugene Brooks, 76, of Donalsonville, Ga., were held on Sunday, Feb. 14, at Donalsonville Church of God with the Revs. Kip Boswell and Joe Tatum officiating.
Interment followed in Corinth Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Iron City, Ga., with Travis Brooks, Lyn Reynolds, Michael Albritton, Mike Adams, Bill Moody, Windell Cross and Larry Cherry serving as active pallbearers.
Born March 19, 1933, in Donalsonville, Ga., Mr. Brooks died on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Brooks served in the U.S. Army. He had worked as a deputy sheriff with Seminole County. He also served as the coroner of Seminole County for four years and the deputy coroner for several years prior to being elected coroner, and was a certified EMT. He and his wife owned and operated Loyless Donut in Cairo, for 15 years. He was a member of the Donalsonville Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Terry Brooks.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis Brooks of Donalsonville; a son, Cliff Brooks of Gainesville, Ga.; two daughters, LeAnna Brooks of Donalsonville, Ga., and Karen Cross and her husband, Stacy Cross, of Iron City, Ga.; one brother, C.P. Brooks of Huntsville, Ala.; and eight grandchildren, Mara Brooks, Savannah Brooks, Cody Cross, Tanner Cross, Carson Brooks, Michelle Brooks, Chad Brooks and Jason Brooks.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
