Iver Schmidt

Memorial services for Iver N. Schmidt, 71, of Bainbridge—formerly of Chicago, Ill., Winter Haven Fla., and Fort Pierce, Fla.—will be held at a later date.
Born in Chicago, Ill., Mr. Schmidt died at his residence Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010.
Mr. Schmidt served in the U.S. Army during the Cold War. A trained union electrician, Local 134, Mr. Schmidt went on to found S-K Water Makers, designing, selling, and installing his state-of-the-art salt water purification systems world wide. He was an accomplished electrician and built and remodeled large commercial fishing and treasure hunting boats in South America, taking care of all the on-board water systems. “Schmidty” loved people, work and devising a better mouse trap.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Schmidt; and a sister, Doris Brown.
Mr. Schmidt is survived by two daughters; Terri Schmidt and Kimberly Ann Smith, both of Winter Haven, Fla.; a son, James Schmidt of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Marilyn Bauer of St. Charles, Ill.; three very special caregivers, Charlotte Brock of Bainbridge, Mary Strickland of Lakeland, Fla., and Martha Rose Maxwell of Bainbridge; special friends; Ralph and Barbara Collison of Donalsonville, Ga.; seven grandchildren, a step-granddaughter, many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
