Clyde McGriff

Funeral services for Clyde McGriff, 72, of Bainbridge, were held Saturday, Feb. 27, at Nelson Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with Pastor Alfreda Williams officiating.
Interment followed in Jonas Lobe Cemetery with Harvey Breedlove, Allen Gaines, Toney Gaines, David Green, Donald Grimsley, Eddie James Johnson, Richard Moore and Kelvin Scott serving as active pallbearers.
Born Oct. 27, 1937, in Grady County, Mr. McGriff died on Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge.
Mr. McGriff, who was affectionately called “Preacher” and “Brother,” attended the public schools of both Grady and Decatur counties. After graduating from Hutto High School in 1956, Mr. McGriff enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two years. He worked as a cab driver and retired from the Bainbridge State Hospital in 2003. He was an active member of the Nelson Chapel A.M.E. Church.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Myrtis D. McGriff; a son, Russell O. McGriff; a brother, Howard McGriff; three half-sisters, Mary Ann Porter, Diane Clark and Juanita Breedlove; two half-brothers, Abraham Breedlove and Harvey Lee Breedlove; and a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Guyton Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
