A memorial service for Lee Roy Starling, 90, of Bainbridge, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, in the chapel of Ivey Funeral Home with the Rev. David Grubbs officiating.

A funeral service for Mr. Starling will be held at 3 p.m. CST at Union Free Will Baptist Church near Abbeville, Ala., with the Rev. Ray Riley officiating.

Interment will follow at Union Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with his grandsons serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.

Born June 16, 1919, in Abbeville, Ala., Mr. Starling died on Monday, March 8, 2010, at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville, Ga.

Mr. Starling was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. He operated Starling’s Small Engine Repair Shop in Bainbridge for many years.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia S. Foster.

Survivors include four sons, Leroy Starling of Donalsonville, Ga., Roger Starling of Avon, Ala., Earl Starling and David Donalson, both of Bainbridge; seven daughters, Mary Lucy Rogers, Elaine Money and Martha Ann Turner, all of Abbeville, Ala., Cathy Bell of Dothan, Ala., Barbara Bowman of Malvern, Ala., Sheila Phillips and Claudette Donalson, both of Bainbridge; 35 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
