A funeral service for Ralph Powell Sr., 95, of Brinson, Ga., will be held Wednesday, April 28, at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Marty Brock and Stanley Phillips officiating.

Interment will follow at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Chris Jackson, Lanier Lane, Reggie Dean, Otis Dean, Michael Gunn, John Cofty and Jim Merritt serving as active pallbearers. Members of the Walter C. Dancer Lodge No. 115 Free and Accepted Masons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Born Aug. 26, 1914, in Decatur County, Mr. Powell died on Monday, April 26, 2010, at his residence.

Mr. Powell was a farmer and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for many years. He was a member of the Walter C. Dancer Lodge No. 115 Free and Accepted Masons.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kathryn Gardner Powell; his daughter, Deborah P. Parker; his brother, Pete Powell; and his four sisters, Myrtle Lane, Elizabeth English, Ruth Spooner and Vera Cofty.

Survivors include his two sons, Edwin Powell and his wife, Janice, of Donalsonville, Ga.; and Ralph Powell Jr. of Brinson; four grandchildren, Laura Lynn Powell, Stanley R. Powell, Marvin Parker Jr. and Mary Parker Cook, and nine great-grandchildren.
