The funeral service for Thomas F. Whatley Jr., 77, of Bainbridge, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 7, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Davidson officiating.
Interment will follow at Blakely Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 6, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Whatley was born Nov. 19, 1933, in Blakely, Ga., the son of Thomas Floyd Whatley and Minnie Lee Duke. He died Feb. 3, 2011, at Memorial Hospital.
He was a graduate of Early County High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War. Mr. Whatley was the HVAC supervisor for the Decatur County School Board and owner and operator of Decatur Heating and Cooling.
He was preceded in death by his sons, William D. Whatley and Matthew W. Whatley; and his daughter, Cheryl W. Ellison.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Whatley of Bainbridge; a son, Tom Whatley III and his wife, Michelle, of Bainbridge; his daughters, Paula Inlow and her husband, Vincent, of Bainbridge, and Tammy Whatley of Tallahassee, Fla.; his sister, Frances Adams of Thomaston, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
