John W. Cook

The funeral service for John Wilkinson Cook, 84, of Bainbridge, was held on Monday, Feb. 14, at Morningside Baptist Church with the Rev. Warren Fox officiating.
Interment followed at White’s Bridge Cemetery with Dennis Lambert, Randy Faircloth, Ricky Faircloth, James Matthews, Randall Williams and Syd Rives IV serving as active pallbearers.
Mr. Cook was born March 19, 1926, in West Bainbridge, the son of Ollie Oscar Cook and Beatrice Donley Cook. He died Feb. 11, 2011, at Memorial Hospital. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1942, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, receiving the Bronze Star and Purple Heart during World War II. Mr. Cook was a retired railroad agent with CSX, a member of VFW Post No. 4904, and a member of Washington Lodge No. 19, F&A.M.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audra Mae Faircloth Cook; his son, John Daryl Cook; and his daughter, Hilda Michelle Smith.
Survivors include his son, Kelvin Cook of Jacksonville, Fla.; his daughter, Sandra Dianne Rives of Macon, Ga.; his eight grandchildren and his four great-grandchildren.
Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
