In a called meeting of the Downtown Development Authority held Friday, April 29, the decision was made to purchase two retail buildings at 127 and 131 E. Water St. from current owner Dewey Robinson. These are the buildings formerly occupied by Gowan Furniture and South Georgia Sports. Amanda Glover, Community Development director for the City of Bainbridge, said this week they are under contract for a price of $185,000, with a closing set for June. She said they have no immediate plans for the buildings.
