The funeral service for Mary Ethel Stephens Johnson, 86, of Colquitt, Ga., was held on Sunday, May 1, at Colquitt United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Thompson officiating.

Interment followed at Oak City Cemetery in Bainbridge. Active pallbearers were Spud Bush, Terry Toole, Bud Carter, Irvin Hodges, Earl Smith and Ray Grimsley.

Mrs. Johnson was born Dec. 18, 1924, in Calvary, Ga., the daughter of Henry E. Stephens and Ethel Mae Harrell Stephens. She died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at her daughter’s residence in Enterprise, Ala. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, a member of Colquitt United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Johnson (sergeant who served in the South Pacific during World War II); and her sisters, Hattie S. Horne and Annie Pearl S. Patterson.

Survivors include her son, Tommy Johnson and his wife, Jan, of Albany; her daughters, Mary Alice Logan and her husband, Joseph, of Enterprise, and Carole Snipes of Camilla; her sister, Marjorie Stephens Moughan of Gray, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Heather Johnson, Brad (Lauren) Johnson, Rae Phillips, Amanda (Brett) Williams, Hayley (Chase) Caldwell, Kym (Carl) Drummond and Beau Logan; nine great-grandchildren, Kayla Moore, Brailyn Williams, Bryson Williams, Kailey Williams, Caden Caldwell, Kinsley Caldwell, Steven McKenzie, Gary Drummond and Samantha Drummond.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
