4-H Archery team competes

Decatur County 4-H’ers took aim at the Georgia 4-H Archery Compound Championship held May 14-15 during the 4-H Target Challenge Weekend at Rock Eagle 4-H Center.
Decatur County 4-H’ers competed against 502 other 4-H’ers from across the state.
Cloverleaf 4-H’ers competing were Savannah Padgett, Chason Webster, Wright Cook, Townsend Livingston, Calen Greene, Brett Dobbins and Perry Birdsong.
The cloverleaf division consist of 4-H’ers from fifth and sixth grade.
The Junior Team is comprised of 4-H’ers from seventh and eighth grade. Members of the Junior Team included Aubrey Hand, Kameron Landeen, Carson Harrell, Mason Birdsong, Matthew Green and Brenden Greene.
Sam Slaughter competed in the senior competition. The senior division consist of 4-H’ers in ninth through 12th grade.
Team members have been diligently practicing twice a week since November in preparation for the state contest under the guidance of volunteer coaches Rick Landeen, Michael Padgett and Lee Birdsong. This opportunity would not be possible without the dedication and hard-work of the coaches.
The 4-H Archery Program is a part of the Georgia 4-H Shooting Awareness, Fun and Education Program (S.A.F.E.). Teamwork, cooperation, self-responsibility and character are among the many life skills gained by participating in the S.A.F.E program. The Georgia 4-H Foundation sponsors the program.
