A newly formed support group for those who are caretakers and/or family members of Alzheimer’s patients was formed in January. It has been meeting monthly on the third Mondays of the month, and has attracted a core group of 20. Meetings alternate with the First Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church and the First United Methodist Church. The next meeting will be Monday, June 20, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at First Methodist. Lunch is included. Guest speaker will be Jason Smith, who holds a master’s in social work and is education director of the Alzheimer’s Project Inc. in Tallahassee, Fla. Sheree Hall, executive director of Riverside Place, acts as facilitator of the local group. Anyone interested in knowing more about the association is invited to call her at (229) 248-1116.
