Graveside services for Venson Henry Wilson, 86, of Malone, Fla., were held Monday, June 27, at Pinecrest Memory Gardens in Marianna, Fla., with the Rev. Jackie Register officiating.

He was born in Elba, Ala., on Oct. 25, 1924. He died June 24, 2011, at the North Florida Community Hospital in Chipley, Fla. He was of the Baptist faith. He served his country during World War II and was stationed on the Lady Lexington. He retired as Human Resources director from Sunland Training Center in Marianna, and was also an avid fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Van and Ella Pearl Boutwell Wilson; his wife, Ruby Smith Wilson, and his son, Steve Wilson.

Survivors include one daughter, Shelia Crosby of Donalsonville; one grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
