Big hit

Kudos to the City of Bainbridge for putting on another great Fourth of July celebration at the Earle May Boat Basin.
Good entertainment and a great fireworks display has proven to be a winning combination in bringing out the huge crowds.
City officials estimated 4,000 to 5,000 listened to Fly By Radio and watched the fireworks. There were probably another 100 or so boaters watching the fireworks in the comfort of their boats anchored on the Flint River or in the Boat Basin.
The connection with the availability of all-day fun on the Flint River and Lake Seminole, then coming into an easily accessible boat ramp to watch a great fireworks display capped a great day of fun for many families and friends. This combination should further be capitalized on in future events and certainly continued in future Independence Day celebrations.
What is even more impressive was how well the crowd responded with patience in clearing out of the Boat Basin and how cleaned up the Boat Basin was Tuesday morning. Not hardly a lick of trash to be seen.
