Atlanta, Ga.—Schnitzer Southeast LLC, a division of Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc., announced in news release that Schnitzer was recently named “Scrap Company of the Year” at the American Metal Market’s second annual awards for steel excellence.

The award recognizes Schnitzer’s outstanding commitment to operational excellence, significant growth achievements and contributions to the industry’s global advancement during the past year.

Schnitzer Southeast operates 18 scrap recycling facilities across the southeast and Puerto Rico, which includes a location in Bainbridge on Dothan Road.

AMM’s 2010 Steel Excellence Awards program recognized companies for demonstrating operational excellence as well as contributions to the industry overall.
