Funeral services for Kenneth Jerome Sheffield, 56, were held Sat., July 30, 2011, at Pine Hill M.B. Church in Bainbridge, with the Rev. Leon Pace officiating. Interment followed at Jonas Lobe Cemetery with Adrian Sheffield, Ryan Sheffield, Kenney Sheffield, Terrence Dudley, Darrell Sheffield, Jermaine Dudley acting as pallbearers.

Mr. Sheffield was born Feb. 2, 1955, to the late Obie and Addie Gadson Sheffield. He died July 23, 2011, at Albany, Ga.

He graduated from Decatur County Schools and attended Albany Tech, where he completed the automotive mechanics program. “Shep,” as he was called by many of his friends, was employed by General Electric, Fitton and Pittman, Miller Brewing and Southern Bell, before opening his own auto mechanics shop. His favorite pasttime was fishing with his sons and buddies and sight-seeing.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Francine Appling Sheffield; three sons, Adrian Sheffield of Dallas, Texas, and Brandon Sheffield and Kenney Sheffield of Albany; one daughter, Hermiece Sheffield of Albany; three brothers, Elja Sheffield of Bainbridge, Norman Sheffield of Upper Marlboro, Md. and Darrell Sheffield of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters, Ozie Pace of Americus, Edna Martin, Sharolyn Johnson of Bainbridge, Subrena Hurd of Royce City, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Bruton Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
