Drouin wins veterans day classic

Florida State University student Jackie Drouin won Saturday’s annual Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA Veterans Day 10,000-meter (6.2-mile) Classic with a time of 35 minutes, 46 seconds.
Second and fourth places in the 84 runner field were also captured by Florida State fremale runners. Astrid Leutert was second in a time of 36:10 and Jennifer Dunn was fourth in a time of 37:18.
Mark McLeod of Fitzgerald, Ga., and the South Georgia College track team in Douglas, Ga., was third overall with a time of 37:07.
The top male and female Decatur County finishers were Chase Harris and Amber Braswell.
Harris, a member of the Grace Christian Academy Cougars’ cross-country team, was sixth overall with a time of 37:35.28. Braswell, of the Bainbridge High School Lady Cats’ cross-country team, was 31st overall with a time of 48:37.
Harris’s brother Caleb Harris was 20th overall with a time of 43:49.60.
The top female masters over-40 finisher was Paula O’Neill of Tallahassee, Fla. Her time was 46:13.01.
The top male masters over-40 finisher was David Yon of Tallahassee. He was 15th overall with a time of 41:32.
