Lady Cats win 2 games, make tournament finals

Coach Kelvin Cochran’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats defeated the host Thomasville High School Lady Bulldogs 64-48 Thursday, to reach Friday night’s championship game of the BSN Sports Adidas\Seminole Wind Holiday Hoopfest.
Bainbridge (6-4) was scheduled to play Brunswick High School in the championship game at the Thomasville High School Gymnasium. That game was not completed as of press time; coverage will be in the Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, edition of The Post-Searchlight.
They were led in their semifinal win over Thomasville by Ri’Chana Jackson with 25 points and Alex Carter with 14 points.
Diamond Bouie added seven and Briana Wade and Takia Crankfield put in five apiece. Ricarsha Johnson led Thomasville with 21.
Cochran said he thought his team was really coming together and playing hard on both ends of the floor.
On Wednesday, the Lady Cats came from behind in the second half to down the Mitchell County High School Lady Eagles, 54-51.
Trailing 29-22 at halftime, the Lady Cats outscored the Lady Eagles 32-22 in the second half to pull out the victory.
They were led by Jackson with 16. Crankfield added 14 and Carter put in 10.
Cochran said he thought his team played better as the game progressed.
“We struggled some in the first half against Mitchell County, but we played much better in the second half,” he said. We made some big plays when we needed them.”
