NSA Tournament coming February 11

Ron King, state senior director with the National Softball Association (NSA) umpires, met with local umpires and Bainbridge Leisure Services Department program director Diane Atkinson and ball park supervisor Dennis Faircloth Sunday afternoon to announce an upcoming Bainbridge tournament.
The meeting, held at Bill Reynolds Sports Park where the tournament will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, was set up by Bainbridge resident Maston Griffin, who plays in NSA Tournaments.
The tournament, sponsored by NSA and Down To Earth Sports, will be a D and E Class event billed as the 2012 Battle In Bainbridge. Players will be in the 20-and-up and 30-and-up age groups.
The entry fee will be $275 cash, plus a $25 sanction fee if the team is not sanctioned. To enter, teams should call Rafael Vega at (478) 320-0094.
The tournament prize package, based on 20 teams participating, will go to first, second and third place teams.
The first-place team will receive six bats, 12 T-shirts, 12 hats, 12 pairs of batting gloves, 12 dry fits that can be used for jerseys, 12 rolls of bat tape and a dozen balls.
The second-place team will receive three bats, 12 T-shirts and a dozen balls, and the third-place team will receive one bat and 12 T-shirts.
