Former Bainbridge High School Bearcats  running back and Marshall Universirty Thundering Heard safety and linebacker Phillip Gamble is traveling the world while playing with Jacksonville, Florida based Team USA.

Gamble earned a degree in sports management at Marshall and is working on a masters degree in the same field there.

“I go to Jacksonville every few weeks to practice with Team USA,” Gamble said during a visit to Bainbridge on Tuesday. “Our mission and purpose is to travel to other countries and teach them how to play American football.

Gamble is a 2004 graduate of Bainbridge High School, where he excelled in three sports, He played point guard on coach Jeff Page’s Bearcats basketball team and ran sprints for coach Larry Clark’s Bearcats track team.

He was an All-State running back as a senior for coach Greg Guy’s Bearcats football team.

He led Region 1AAAA in all purpose yards his senior year with 2,170. On the ground he had 183 carries for 1,373 yards and 13 touchdowns.
