The funeral service for Curtis J. Ward, 85, of Attapulgus, will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Grubbs and Elder Roy Harrison officiating. Interment will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 2 p.m. on Sunday at Ivey Funeral Home.
Mr. Ward was born April 6, 1927 in Bainbridge, the son of Warner Perry Ward and Stella Brock Ward. He died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and a retired lineman with Georgia Power Company. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 4904, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and Attapulgus United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Ward Davis; and his brothers, Vance Ward, Lamar Ward, and Arnold Lee Ward.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gerri W. Ward of Attapulgus; his sons, Elwood Ward and his wife, Katrine, of Attapulgus, and Kenneth Ward of Attapulgus; his son-in-law, Fred Davis of Tallahassee, Fla.; his sisters, Dorothy Boyette of Signal Mountain, Tenn., Ann Johnson of Rixeyville, Va., and Juanita Allen and her husband, Ralph, of Cumming, Ga.; his sister-in-law, Sarah Ward of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Eric Ward, Kyle Ward, Kimberly Mitchell, and Tyler Davis; and his great-grandson, Brayden Ward.
Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
