Graveside services for Fred Elton Rackley Jr., 75 of Meigs, Ga., will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at Meigs Sunset Cemetery in Thomas County, Ga., at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Pickering and Pastor Ed Harrell officiating. Pallbearers will be Tony West, Terry Stewart, Jess Kilpatrick, Earl West and Mark Rackley. Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home Chapel in Pelham.
Mr. Rackley was born Aug. 15, 1935, in Sale City, Ga. and died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Ga.
Mr. Rackley was a retired farmer, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Meigs Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Elton Rackley Sr. and Georgia Akridge Rackley; brothers Oscar Rackley, Daniel Rackley and David Rackley; and sisters, Kathryn Rackley, Margaret Stewart, Grace Dorsey and Joann Pye.
Survivors include his children, Patricia Rackley Metcalf and husband Sam of Tallahassee, Fla., Felicia Rackley Parker and husband Rodney of West Palm, Fla., Freddie E. Rackley and wife, Penny of Bainbridge, Richard Wayne Rackley and wife, Susan of Meigs; grandchildren, Samuel Metcalf, Kayla Blackburn, Matthew Daniel, Michael Daniel, Laban Rackley, Graham Rackley, Lauren Rackley and Amber Rackley; great-grandchildren: Dylan Gay and Gavin Blackburn; and sisters, Evelyn “Annie” Kilpatrick of Ellijay, Ga., and Leone Alligood of Meigs.
Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home of Pelham is in charge of the arrangements.
