The funeral service for Ronald S. Sams, 72, was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2012, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ron Kirkland officiating. Interment was at West Bainbridge Cemetery with Lamont Bullock, Terry Smith, Daryl Smith, Larry Hutto, James Cristante and Bob Daughtry serving as active pallbearers.

Mr. Sams was born Aug. 13, 1939, in Parkersburg, W.Va., the son of Emanuel Rupert Sams and Mary Ella Williams Sams. He died Friday, March 23, 2012, at Miller Nursing Home in Colquitt, Ga. He attended Bainbridge High School and was a truck driver for Flint River Mills, where he won several awards, including truck driver of the year. He enjoyed antique cars and attended First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his son, Ronnie Sams and his wife, Caryn, of Bainbridge; his sister, Angelyn Bullock of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Kevin Childree, William Childree and Ronald Sams Jr., all of Bainbridge; several nieces and nephews; and his very special friend, Betty Smith of Bainbridge.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
