Track teams strong at Lowndes County

The Bainbridge High School Lady Cats and Bearcats track teams turned in strong efforts at Saturday’s Lowndes County High School Invitational Meet, in Valdosta, Ga.
The Lady Cats were sixth in a 15-team girls field and the Bearcats were fourth in a 16-team boys field.
The Valdosta High School Lady Wildcats won the girls championship and the Bradwell Institute Tigers, from Hinesville, Ga., won the boys championship.
The Lady Cats’ Amber Braswell and Tiffany Braswell were fifth and seventh in the 3,200-meter run, with times of 13 minutes, 45.25 seconds, and 13:55.27.
Their teammate Diamond Bouie was second in the 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 16.01. The Lady Cats’ Kadeeijah Cooper and Bouie were fifth and eighth in the 300-meter hurdles, with times of 48.10 and 48.89.
Bouie took second in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 2 inches, and her teammate Tearnee Harvin was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 2 inches.
Bainbridge’s Kadeedra Sparrow captured second in the shot put, with a heave of 32 feet, 5 inches. Sparrow and teammate Asia Thomas finished sixth and seventh in the discus with throws of 91 feet, 6.25 inches, and 89 feet, 5 inches.
The Bearcats’ Terry Lewis and Martez Vickers were third and sixth in the 100-meter dash, with times of 11.28 and 11.42. Bainbridge’s Hubert Thomas and Rhyan Edwards were second and eighth in the 400-meter dash, with times of 50.26 and 51.95.
Jevante Ross and Dominique Parrish were sixth and seventh in the 800-meter run, with times of 2:13.11 and 2:15.31. Their teammate Davie Reynolds was sixth in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:10.73.
The Bearcats’ Dreyveon Smith and Reynolds took sixth and eighth in the 3,200-meter run, with times of 11:20.26 and 11:30.48.
Dontarius Jackson of the Bearcats came in third in the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles, with times of 15.28 and 40.56.
The Bearcats 4-by-400-meter relay team of Rhyan Edwards, Alton Miller, Dontarius Jackson and Hubert Thomas captured second place, with a time of 3:24.06.
Craig Cooper and Steven Johnson of the Bearcats finished third and fifth in the high jump, with leaps of 6 feet and 5 feet, 10 inches.
Cooper was sixth in the long jump, with a leap of 20 feet. His teammates Jordan Johnson and Hubert Thomas were seventh and eighth in the triple jump, with leaps of 41 feet, 2.50 inches and 41 feet, 1.50 inches.
Bainbridge’s Joshua Sheard took sixth in the discus, with a throw of 127 feet, 3 inches.
