Kenny Hollis, who has served as deputy coroner since 1997, has announced his intention to run for Decatur County coroner in the coming election.
Hollis, 43, is a graduate of the Class of 1987 of Bainbridge High School. He is a graduate of Gupton Jones College, where he earned his associate’s degree in science in 1992.
He has been employed with Elberta Crate and Box Co. for the last 11 years.
“Coroner is a tough job as well as a sensitive job,” he said. “A coroner needs to be thorough as well as compassionate. The integrity of the coroner and the coroner’s investigations is of the utmost importance.”
Hollis said he has enjoyed serving Decatur County for the past 15 years and has a very positive working relationship with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, the Bainbridge Public Safety Department, Decatur County EMS, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Georgia State Patrol, Decatur County Fire and Rescue and volunteers, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Memorial Hospital, local hospice organizations, and all local funeral homes.
Hollis is married to Beth, who is a nurse practitioner at Memorial Hospital. They have one son, Ryles Hollis. His parents are Annete Hollis and the late Aaron Hollis, and he has one sister, Sharon Hollis Rathel.
