Parents must notify BOE of school zone exceptions
Published 2:02 pm Friday, June 15, 2012
The Decatur County Board of Education requires that all students attend the school in the zone in which they reside, unless they are in a specialized program that contains students across school zones. Any exceptions to this policy must be made through the “School Choice Plan.”
If your child will be in grades K-4 during the 2012-13 school year and you desire to apply for a school out of your zone using the “School Choice Plan,” you will need to complete an application during the week of June 18-22. Applications may be obtained at the Decatur County Board of Education, 100 West Street, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Applications will be available and accepted only during the week of June 18-22.
If you have questions regarding the “School Choice Plan” or the application process, please contact the Board of Education office at (229) 248-2200.
